I write, direct, produce and run activist projects
I am Artistic Director of Fringe First Award-winning theatre company, Power Play C.I.C., who develop immersive platforms for female-identifying theatre-makers. Our 2018 showcase of four new plays, staged in a domestic flat taken over as a Pleasance pop-up, told stories of ‘rich unsettling drama’ (The Scotsman). One of Lyn Gardner’s Picks of the Fringe, this gained 4* and 5* reviews and National Press (British Theatre; The Independent, Exeunt). Power Play also collect and broadcast data on gender imbalances in the arts, launching the world-first study into gender in fringe theatre in 2019.
I developed and Associate Directed the Filipa Bragança Award-winning ‘Funeral Flowers’, which came on a London tour to 4* and 5* star reviews (A Younger Theatre; The Stage). Recent productions I directed include the sold-out devised musical ‘Mary Mary Quite Contrary’ at The Cockpit, and discursive performance piece 'Brainstorming Vulnerability' at the V&A.
I am currently co-Directing short-film ‘Another Body’ with Reuben Hamlyn, developing the 'Inside Holloway' project, working with Clean Break on several projects, and developing activist initiatives with Bumble, Fringe Society, and other partners.
I also lead workshops and immersive, performative wraparound projects, recently the ‘Community Conversations’ project with partners including Arts Emergency and Black Ticket Project. A recent collaboration was All Rise, a two-day durational performance at Tate Modern, and I co-founded Brainstorm to investigate masculinity and mental health through visual and performing art.
I have collaborated with partners including Free Word Centre, Bread & Roses, Advaya Initiative, Clean Break, Theatre Uncut, Black Audience Club, Collective Roots, Its Freezing in LA and many more.
I would love to hear from you!
